Texas school bus involved in truck accident

Truck drivers often spend most of their waking hours behind the wheel. Because of this, it may seem that they forgot the size and weight of their vehicles and the potential damage those vehicles may do in an accident. Truckers that drive too fast for road or weather conditions place other drivers at risk. Very few states are without stories of tragic truck accidents, including Texas.

Those tragedies seem even more devastating when they involve children. A recent accident involving a school bus sent six people to the hospital, including the bus driver and five children. The accident occurred early in the morning as the children were on their way to school. The school bus had stopped in the inside northbound lane to pick up two children when the unthinkable occurred.

A dump truck crested a hill, and the driver failed to see the stopped bus even though the bus driver had activated its red flashing lights. Slamming on his brakes, the truck driver sent his rig skidding into the outside northbound lane where a tractor-trailer was stopped for the school bus. The dump truck glanced off the tractor-trailer and crashed into the back of the school bus. Fortunately, no children were seated in the back of the bus, and the two children boarding were not injured.

Nevertheless, parents of the five children who were transported to the hospital are certainly concerned. Truck accidents often result in catastrophic injuries and even death. People in Texas who suffer injuries in truck accidents have every right to consult an attorney for advice about pursing a civil claim to possibly recoup their losses from those responsible.
