Texas 18-wheeler accident results in death of beloved woman

Most drivers of big rigs understand the great responsibility they have when they take their massive vehicles on the highways. The safety of everyone around them depends on their speed, attention to the road and fitness to drive. What a driver may overlook is the condition of the truck. A recent semi-truck accident on a Texas highway may have been the result of a poorly maintained vehicle combined with unsafe speed.

The truck was traveling west on a divided highway when one of its tires blew. The driver was unable to control the 18-wheeler as it jackknifed and careened across the median into oncoming traffic. A vehicle driven by a 46-year-old woman was struck head-on and dragged by the truck into a ditch.

The victim's boyfriend attempted CPR on the critically injured woman. Additionally, a passing doctor stopped to render aid. However, they were unable to revive her. Doctors at a nearby hospital pronounced her dead. There were no reports of injuries to the driver of the truck.

As the investigation continues, those who mourn the victim in this accident may have many questions about the causes of the accident. For example, was the driver or the trucking company aware of the condition of the tires? Texas investigators may also consider the speed of the truck and whether the load he was carrying contributed to his inability to control the vehicle. In situations like these, the families of victims of truck accidents have every right to seek answers to their questions. Many engage the assistance of an attorney to help them along the way.
