Infant Killed In Suspected Drunk Driving Crash

On behalf of Green Law Texas posted in drunk driving accidents on Tuesday, May 8, 2018.

In spite of the warnings and public awareness campaigns, every day, motorists still choose to drive after they have been drinking alcohol. Countless Texas families have been forever changed by the tragedies that are caused by drink driving crashes. Recently, a former emergency responder allegedly killed an infant after purportedly drinking and driving.

Texas officials responded to the scene of a traffic accident involving a passenger car and a pickup truck. According to the investigation, a family with three children and the parents, was traveling on a local road when the father apparently observed that the traffic ahead slowed down. The man decreased his speed to adjust to changing traffic conditions. Unfortunately, a 28-year-old man driving in the pickup behind, failed to adjust his speed.

The second driver’s vehicle collided with the family’s car. The force of the crash was concentrated on the driver’s side rear section where the infant was securely strapped into her car seat. Officials stated that the baby was correctly fastened in her seat, but the damage from the crash was too severe for her to survive. All of the other occupants were also correctly using the vehicle’s safety restraints.

The father remembers regaining consciousness at the hospital where his wife informed him that their 6-month-old daughter died in the crash. Texas authorities arrested the driver of the pickup — who was a former part-time firefighter — on charges of intoxicated manslaughter. The family is reportedly attempting to recover from their physical and emotional traumas — though their lives will never be the same after such a horrific loss. Families who have suffered the tragic consequences caused by a drunk driving crash may pursue recovery of monetary damages through the civil justice system.

Preparing Evidence After A Pedestrian-car Accident

On behalf of Green Law Texas on Friday, May 11, 2018.

It is never easy to recover after being struck by a car as a pedestrian. Often, the injuries suffered are severe and life-altering, and may requite many months of recovery time just to get you back to near-normal functionality in your everyday life and work.

Of course, while you recover, your medical bills and other expenses do not go away. In fact, your expenses in general are probably much higher, while your income is probably cut significantly. For many people facing such circumstances, it can feel overwhelming. It may seem like an insurmountable challenge to simultaneously focus on physical recovery from the accident while also addressing mounting expenses and legal issues.

In most pedestrian-car accidents, the pedestrian must go through a lengthy process to receive fair compensation from the driver to cover these expenses and other losses. If you face this task, it is important to know that you do not have to face it alone. A strong legal advocate can pursue a fair settlement and fight to protect your rights and needs as you heal, giving you the space to turn your attention to your own recovery.

What kinds of evidence to gather

As you build your claim, clear, detailed documentation is essential. A personal injury claim that does not include proper documentation offers the other party or parties responsible for your injuries room to minimize your suffering and potentially get away without compensating you fully. Add up all the costs of your medical care, as well as other financial and personal losses, such as income you do not receive because you cannot go to work.

Be sure to carefully file any and all medical documentation of your injuries, as well as detailed notes pertaining of the accident itself. This may include

  • Photographs and video footage of the accident scene, including surveillance footage of the accident if available
  • Photographs of the injuries you suffered
  • Interviews with witnesses
  • Police reports regarding the accident
  • Medical records relevant to your accident
  • Expert medical testimony

Protect yourself while you recover

Practically speaking, it is usually very difficult to stay on top of all the moving parts of an injury claim while you also recover from your accident. While there are many things that you can do, supporting team members are always wise to consider, to ensure that you remain focused on your physical recovery.

With a strong personal injury claim supported by detailed documentation, your chances of receiving a fair settlement for your losses increase significantly, relieving many stresses that may seem insurmountable otherwise. Your ongoing wellbeing may depend on how you address your claim, so be sure that you fully consider all your options as you move forward.

Horrific Tractor-trailer Accident Kills 2 Texas Women

On behalf of Green Law Texas posted in 18-wheeler accidents on Thursday, May 17, 2018.

No matter the time of day, traveling along the nation’s highways can be a dangerous undertaking. Sadly, no matter how carefully one drives, a tragic tractor-trailer crash can occur without warning and without time to take evasive actions. One recent crash in Texas took the lives of two women who were headed to work.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 54-year-old trucker was operating his semi-trailer east along U.S. 290. He was driving a 2017 model tractor while hauling an attached flat-bed trailer. For reasons that have not yet been determined, the driver seemingly lost control and crossed over into the westbound lanes of the roadway. His tractor then collided with a smaller passenger car being driven by a 27-year-old man.

That impact caused the second vehicle to come to a stop along the grassy verge of the road. At the same time, two women, ages 22 and 26, were also driving west. The driver of that vehicle was unable to avoid striking the trailer portion of the rig. That collision resulted in the deaths of both women. The other two drivers were transported for treatment of undisclosed injuries and later released.

Texas officials are still investigating what led up to this fatal tractor-trailer crash, and it is unclear whether the trucker will face any criminal charges. The two women were reportedly well-respected employees of a local winery, which expressed its shock at this sudden loss. The victims’ families may now face significant financial damages in addition to the loss of their loved ones. Families in these circumstances may choose to pursue compensation for those damages by filing wrongful death civil suits against the parties deemed liable for these untimely deaths.

Texas Motorcycle Crash Claims Life Of Local Pastor

On behalf of Green Law Texas posted in motorcycle accidents on Wednesday, May 23, 2018.

In many Texas communities, some of the most respected members are those who provide guidance and support through the local area churches. These men and women are often available at any hour to help those in need. Sadly, one community lost a beloved pastor after a tragic motorcycle crash.

According to the report, the 54-year-old man was operating his 2007 motorcycle along a frontage road that ran along Interstate 27 in Plainview. As he was traveling in a southerly direction near a fast food restaurant, a man driving a 2006 pickup was attempting to leave a parking area. For reasons that are yet unclear, the pickup truck then crashed into the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries in the collision. He was transported by emergency responders to a local medical center for treatment. Unfortunately, his injuries proved to be too severe, and he was later pronounced deceased by the county’s justice of the peace.

Texas officials did not state whether the unidentified pickup driver will face any charges in connection to this fatal motorcycle crash. A social media posting requested donations to help provide for the well-respected pastor’s widow and daughter, whom are now left behind to cope with the loss of their husband and father. Families in these circumstances are often left to struggle to cope financially after a sudden — and often preventable — death leaves them facing significant monetary losses. An experienced and compassionate attorney can provide invaluable assistance in assembling a thorough and comprehensive civil lawsuit in order to recoup those documented financial losses.
