Texas police seek driver following horrific motorcycle accident

It is rarely a surprise to hear that motorcycles are more likely to be involved in motor vehicle accidents than other vehicles. Similarly, the injuries a biker suffers are likely to be catastrophic because of the lack of protection a bike affords. It seems to be a common refrain that drivers involved in accidents with motorcycles did not see the bike. However, what Texas bikers may find even more upsetting is when a driver does not stop after striking a motorcycle.

Texas police are still searching for the driver who failed to stop after running over a man on a motorcycle. The two vehicles were waiting side by side in parallel left-turn lanes when the light turned green and the lanes of traffic began to move. For unknown reasons, the larger vehicle failed to turn left and instead proceeded straight, running over the motorcycle as it attempted to turn left. The driver did not stop.

Witnesses did not catch the license plate of the car, but nearby security cameras captured a grainy image of the vehicle. Other drivers rendered aid to the 53-year-old victim, whose bike landed on top of him following the collision. He suffered head trauma, neck and leg injuries and was rushed to a nearby ICU where he remains on a ventilator following two surgeries.

The victim's family waits by his bedside wondering if he will survive. If he does pull through, it is may be that his injuries will result in incapacitation, lifelong suffering and mounting medical bills. Victims of motorcycle accidents have every right to contact an attorney to discuss the possibility of filing a personal injury claim against drivers responsible for their injuries. A Texas attorney can help them decide the best options for proceeding with such a claim.
