Texas men facing felony charges after drag racing fatalities

Driving is serious business. After all, motor vehicles are dangerous weapons when not driven responsibly and cautiously. Drivers who use the highway as a playground may end up bringing untold tragedy to those with whom they come in contact. Two Texas men are facing criminal charges for their part in a deadly motor vehicle accident that occurred while they were allegedly drag racing.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on a Wednesday. An 18-year-old driver has reportedly admitted that he and a 22-year-old driver were drag racing their pickup trucks in the westbound lanes of a multi-lane highway that travels through numerous businesses and residential areas. The younger driver's truck collided with a car that was turning left across the highway.

Two children, ages 1 and 8, died at the scene of the horrific crash. The 31-year-old mother of the children remains in a coma in critical condition. The drivers face felony charges, including racing on a highway and causing serious injury, and two counts of causing death while racing on a highway.

There is probably no way to measure the grief this Texas family feels following this devastating and senseless accident. The lives of two children taken so young and the struggle for life of their mother may be overwhelming. In addition to their emotional suffering, the family is likely faced with crushing financial pressure from the cost of two funerals and the expense of a prolonged hospital stay. An attorney with compassion and experience will work to relieve their burden in any way possible.
