CareFlite on standy-by, later cancelled after motorcycle crash

Regardless of the seasons, there are many Texas motorcycle enthusiasts who are willing to brave the elements in order to travel the open road on their bikes. The vast majority of these riders are diligent and observe every safety precaution in an effort to avoid becoming a victim of a motorcycle crash. Unfortunately, a serious collision can occur at any time.

Recently, Texas officials were called out to the scene of a serious collision between a van and a motorcycle that occurred near a local high school. According to the report, the motorcyclist was traveling south down FM 174. A van that was traveling in the opposing direction purportedly attempted to complete a left-hand turn into the parking area of the school. This maneuver resulted in the van colliding with the motorcycle.

Officials stated that the rider was trapped under the van, which prompted a call for the CareFlite medical helicopter to be placed on standby. Unfortunately, the rider died from his injuries at the scene, and the helicopter was subsequently canceled. The road in front of the high school was closed while the scene was investigated and later cleared.

It is unknown whether the driver of the van, who was only described as a female, will face any charges in light of this fatal motorcycle crash. The victim's family is devastated by the sudden loss of their beloved family member. Families who lose loved ones in these types of tragic accidents often face the burden of monetary damages that compounds the emotional pain with which they are attempting to cope. In an effort to alleviate the pressures of these financial damages, victims may seek compensation through the civil justice system.
