Community help sought after child dies in fatal car accident

Losing a child is every parent's worst nightmare. When that nightmare comes true as a result of a fatal car accident, the parents are often wracked with despair -- especially when the crash is caused by negligence on the part of the other motorist. Recently, one Texas family experienced this tragic reality.

According to the reports, a family was traveling down Highway 79 in the early afternoon hours. Though details were not disclosed, the family's vehicle was purportedly struck in the rear by another motorist. The collision resulted in all four passengers in the first car being transported for care to nearby medical centers. One child in the car, a 7-year-old boy, was later transferred to Texas Children's Hospital for treatment of a severe brain injury.

One woman, who reportedly is a co-worker of the boy's mother, set up a fund-raising page to help the family with traveling expenses while they tended to the needs of their critically injured son. Unfortunately, the boy's injuries proved to be too severe, and he died of his injuries a few days later. The charity page is now being used to help raise funds for the child's burial expenses.

It is unknown whether Texas officials charged the other driver in this fatal car accident. Sadly, no criminal charges could ever undo the harm that this family has endured through the loss of their beloved child. When these types of tragic accidents are caused by an inattentive or negligent driver, the physical and emotional toll is only half of the story, since these events often create an enormous financial burden for families that tends to compound their grief and suffering. A compassionate and knowledgeable personal injury attorney can help these families seek recompense for their losses by way of a skillfully navigated civil suit.
