Multiple tractor-trailers involved in fatal crash in Texas

Traveling the Texas interstates can range from a minor annoyance when traffic is heavy to a dangerous undertaking when unforeseen incidents lead to an accident. One such incident with a moving truck purportedly led to a fatal crash involving multiple tractor-trailers. Now, two families are mourning the loss of loved ones while other victims are left to recover from their injuries.

Texas emergency responders were called to the scene of a wreck involving four semis and a passenger vehicle. According to the preliminary reports, a 64-year-old woman was traveling down IH-30 when a U-Haul truck and trailer reportedly overturned. This incident purportedly somehow caused the woman's 18-wheeler to collide with a passenger van carrying a family of five. This touched off another series of collisions involving three other tractor-trailers.

The minivan's driver, a 42-year-old man, was transported by a medical helicopter to the nearest trauma center. A 41-year-old woman and three children, ages 9, 6 and 2, who were also in the vehicle, were killed in the crash. The driver of the first truck also died in the wreck. Four other individuals in the three other semis were all taken for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Texas officials are still completing their investigation into this deadly collision. The driver of the minivan was reportedly in stable condition with undisclosed injuries. He will likely endure a long recovery made worse by the loss of his family in this fatal crash. When victims suffer catastrophic injuries -- or loved ones are lost due to these tragic circumstances -- there are often enormous financial losses that are incurred that compound the emotional and physical suffering. A compassionate and knowledgeable attorney can assist victims in recovering those losses through the successful filing of a personal injury or wrongful death civil suit against the parties deemed liable for their damages.
