Tractor-trailer collision kills Texas man

Highway traveling requires that all motorists pay close attention their surroundings as they operate their vehicle. Sadly, not every accident will be prevented, and the chances of getting involved in a tractor-trailer accident increases both at night and when travel conditions are less than optimal. Recently, a Texas man was killed when his disabled car was struck by a semi-truck.

Texas officials reported that they responded to the scene of a serious car accident along a section of IH-10 around 2:30 a.m. on a recent Sunday. Authorities stated that a passenger vehicle was stopped and was in both the outside and inner lane of the road due to being involved in a prior accident. A tractor-trailer that was being driven by a 57-year-old man was traveling eastbound when it struck the disabled vehicle.

The impact resulted in the 25-year-old male driver of the smaller car suffering critical injuries. Emergency crews transported the man to a nearby medical center where he later died. The truck driver was not injured in the collision.

Officials are still investigating the scene and have not stated whether any charges will be filed. There were no other details relating to the prior accident that caused the stricken vehicle to be stopped in the travel lanes. The victim's family are understandably devastated by the loss of their loved one and may now also have the burden of financial damages to contend with in the weeks following this tragic tractor-trailer accident. When these types of crashes are the result of negligence on the part of another motorist, victims are entitled to pursue financial compensation for their damages through a personal injury or wrongful death civil suit.
